Come on in!

Our 7 top tips for choosing a door that is both functional and stylish.

When it comes to your home, the first thing you and your visitors see is your front door. It bids you farewell as you leave, welcomes your return, and keeps your belongings safe and secure while you’re out. It makes sense then to spend some time choosing the right one.

With so many options available on today’s market, it can be difficult to know where to start. The main thing is to choose one that is durable and has the highest security features. Composite or GRP (Glass reinforced Plastic) doors have transformed the industry, as they are strong, solid and highly versatile. GRP has a better strength to weight ratio than steel, is a natural insulating material, it won’t warp, shrink or rust and is virtually maintenance free.

Thickness

Collingtons only supply 70mm composite doors, rather than the 44mm options, which ensures our customers have the best product available. Apeer composite doors are 70mm in thickness and provide a robust, durable and weather-resistant door. They have a super-strong, metal reinforced and highly insulating polyurethane core, and are double rebated, which adds additional draught protection by creating an internal secondary seal. Just as your household electrical appliances have a rating, so do doors and choosing an A-rated one will make a huge difference to the temperature of your home. Apeer’s double-sealed rebate is virtually airtight, so nasty draughts are banished for good.

Security

Collingtons’ anti-bump, anti-drill, anti-pick, anti-snap, Kitemarked cylinder lock barrels are fitted as standard to every Apeer door. These locks are ‘Secured by Design’ accredited, which is the official police security initiative that works to improve the security of buildings.

Glazing

Apeer doors are also triple-glazed with an anti-tamper glazing system and are designed using the latest materials, helping to keep the heat in and the cold out, making them some of the most energy efficient on the market, which, as heating costs rise, has never been so important.

Safety

Leave germs at the door, with the Apeer antiviral door handle. With a coating that prevents germ growth by up to 99% these handles have a high hygienic rating, helping to combat the spread of germs.

Accessories

Apeer accessories are designed with care and crafted to last. Whether it be a limited-edition door knocker, letterbox or metalwork, by adding additional features to your door it will make it your own.

Maintenance

Gone are the days where traditional wooden doors require endless maintenance to sort out the flaking and peeling. Every Apeer traditional door has its colour sprayed, bonded and sealed in place, leaving maintenance to an absolute minimum.

Design

Apeer doors are available in a range of RAL colours with a real wood look and come in both contemporary and traditional styles. There are a variety of glass and handle options so you can customise your door, your way. The best of it is, Apeer offers an online digital door builder. Whether traditional or contemporary, the virtual assistant takes you seamlessly through the options of model colour, glass, frame and furniture, resulting in an image of the finished product, taking the guesswork out of what your finished door will look like.

So, whether your door has seen better days and is in sore need of replacement, or you’ve been hoping to add some kerb appeal to your home, Apeer doors come highly recommended.
