Collingtons: Props of the future of grassroots rugby

Updated: Dec 13, 2022

When it comes to amateur sport, grassroots investment is vital. For amateur teams of all age groups, playing sport facilitates an active lifestyle and helps with both physical and mental wellbeing. Sponsorship of grassroots sports clubs, nurtures young talent and is an investment into the GB players and even Olympians of the future.

There can be many barriers to participation at a young age, whether those be geographic or socio-economic, but with investment in coaching and providing youth players with the correct mentoring and support, these barriers can be lifted.

Our relationship with rugby

Here at Collingtons, we know the importance of this only too well as our Head of Sales Lloyd Harris explains: “My dad was one of the founding members of Helston Rugby Club back in the 1970’s. He carried out various roles for the club over the years, but mainly in raising sponsorship. I played for the youth section until the age of 15 when I left to join Camborne College. I then moved away but re-joined Helston Rugby Club in 2005 and played for them until 2018. I have had many roles on their committee, supporting the club both on and off the pitch.

Community Spirit

"We believe in a strong sense of community and feel that the success of the local economy depends on local businesses supporting each other. Circulating money helps the town to thrive, maintaining tight community bonds that benefit those that live and work there. It also provides opportunities to those on lower incomes who might not otherwise be able to access sport.”

Collingtons are proud to sponsor the Under-11 age group team as well as the score board and banner advertising on the club’s perimeter fence.
